Is there a live webcam of the Erie Canal?
Yes. USGS operates public river cameras along the canal corridor. This page shows the latest frame from each, refreshed about hourly, from Waterford east to the Genesee near Rochester.
Can I watch boats go through a lock?
The Lock 8 and Lock 9 (Rotterdam Junction) cameras, plus Vischer Ferry Dam (Lock 7), point at the lock chambers — you can often see vessels locking through during navigation season.
How often do the cameras update?
USGS posts a new still image roughly once an hour. Water levels shown beside each camera update more frequently and refresh live on this page.
What is the water level on the Mohawk River right now?
Each camera card shows the current USGS gage height in feet for that station, read live from USGS water services.
